Mary Anna Purcell, 91, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born April 7, 1929 to Guy and Mary (Fairbairn) Crowe. She was the youngest of seven children, raised on the farm five miles north and 1 mile east of Coldwater, Kansas.
She attended New Home Grade School, Coldwater High School, and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Mary Anna was married to Roy E. Purcell on September 4, 1949. She was employed by People’s State Bank, Comanche County Conservation District, transferring to FSA as a program technician before retiring in 1992.
Mary Anna and Roy moved to Salina in 1993 to be closer to their daughters, Saryl (Tom) Johnson and Joni (Kirk) Sticker.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Roy in 2015; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Saryl and Tom Johnson of Minneapolis, Kansas and Joni and Kirk Stricker of Wichita; 6 grandchildren, Addie (Kal) Abushousheh, Katie (Kent) Constable, Micah Copeland, Kindl Shaw, Ben Stricker, Tim (Taylor) Stricker; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ellen Erwin; brother-in-law, Ralph Purcell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary Anna loved to play the piano and organ, developing that talent since playing for her church at age 15. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a member of Salina NARFE and VFW Lifetime Auxiliary member. She loved living her final years at Arbor Court.
There will be no visitation or funeral that this time. Private burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas at a later date.
