Wichita's Dockum Drugstore sit-in will be the topic of a special Zoom presentation by the Smoky Hill Museum.

The presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5. This presentation is online only. The museum will be closed. Send your email to [email protected] to reserve your place.

Prisca Barnes is scheduled to discuss the July 1958 Wichita Dockum Drugstore sit-in, a peaceful protest against the city’s practice of segregation. Learn what happened, how it ended and how these protests helped transform the struggle for racial equality.

Barnes is the founder of Storytime Village, a nonprofit promoting reading among low-income children.
