A 2012 Toyota Corolla disappeared from Bill's Truck and Auto in Salina yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, April 10, after a suspect walked in and drove it away from the repair shop.

Salina Police Department Capt. James Feldman said just before 3:30 p.m., one of the local business's employees stepped away from the shop for a short time and returned to find the car gone.

"As he was leaving, he observed a male subject he was familiar with outside the business," Feldman said. "When he returned to the business, a 2012 Toyota Corolla that was being worked on inside the business was missing. That vehicle was valued at $11,800."

The employee then called the now-suspect he saw near the business earlier who allegedly admitted to taking the vehicle without permission.

The suspect told the employee he saw it parked in the 900 block of West Walnut Street.

Feldman said officers responded and found the Corolla parked there shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

"We have requested warrants for his arrest on this known subject," Feldman said. "Charges would be [for] burglary of the business and the theft of the vehicle from the business."

Salina Post will update the story as more information becomes available.
