A local group of activists plans to go to Topeka Tuesday in the name of transgender rights.

North Central Kansas Pride (NCKP) is inviting the public to participate in the peaceful protests occurring at various state capitols on Tuesday.

NCKP will meet at City Lights Stage (N. Santa Fe Avenue and W. Ash Street) at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The caravan is scheduled to leave for Topeka by 1:30 p.m. The group will return sometime Tuesday evening, according to information from NCKP.

"This event is free and open to the public. Please wear your pride colors and bring signs for equality or social injustices. There are limited seats available for a small gas fee," the organization noted in a news release.
