UPDATE: Strong winds, fire danger to continue tonight; wind advisories

UPDATE 7 p.m. Tuesday: Wind advisories are in effect for counties in our area.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a wind advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

South winds at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to approximately 50 mph are expected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a wind advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday and includes Dickinson County.

South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected. The strongest wind gusts will likely occur during the overnight hours.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Strong and gusty south winds of 40 to 55 mph will continue this evening and overnight, supporting elevated grass fire danger well into the nighttime hours areawide.
