Study Session
Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a study session at 2:30 p.m. The topic of the study session is "Zero Waste Initiative and Waste Sort Project."
The waste sort was conducted March 21-25 and included 50 waste samples, according to information in the commission meeting packet. Thirty-seven of the samples were from residential haulers (15 from city routes and 22 from non-city haulers), while 13 were from commercial and institutional haulers.

As for the makeup of recyclables, 54 cubic yards of recyclables collected at the Salina Drive-thru Recycling Center from the first 75 customers over a three-day period were sorted.

The Waste Sort and Recyclables Composition Study was made possible by grant funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
