A exclusive new speakeasy has been announced to be revealed at the Salina Country Club, bringing in a new hospitality experience.
On Wednesday, November 5 at 5:00 pm the Salina Country Club (2101 E Country Club Rd.) will reveal M1918, which is a brand new speakeasy bar located within the country club. According to Director of Mixology for M1918, Colby Kish, he stated this will be the newest high end cocktail bar in Salina.
Kish added M1918 is a "prohibition era Chicago-style" speakeasy, where those who attend will need to make a reservation beforehand and enter a code in order to get inside the speakeasy. This code will be sent to those who made a reservation the day of.
Moreover, M1918 is a cigar lounge as well. Kish stated people can order their beverages inside the bar, but if they are wanting to smoke, will need to do so outside in the patio.
"We pride ourselves in our unique and original signature cocktails as well as classics people know and love like a Paloma to a Black Manhattan," said Kish. "We are doing some special things that are classics people may have not heard of yet, but we also are tweaking them to the modern pallet. We like to make sure that we are staying true to the roots of these cocktails, but then also making sure they are balanced and enjoyable for people."
Kish added M1918 will not be serving any beer and small bar snacks will be available such as, seasonal roasted nuts from the Farm and Odd Fellows (Minneapolis, KS) and a marinated olive mix.
Located on the Club’s lower level, the speakeasy is creatively hidden from plain sight with several “secret” entrances.
The M1918 name carries layered symbolism as it references both the Browning automatic rifle that was introduced in 1918 and became infamous among Prohibition-era gangsters, and the year the Prohibition Act was signed.
Established in 1911, Salina Country Club is the city’s second oldest business. Since purchasing Salina Country Club in 2021, Salina native and JRI Hospitality President, Founder and CEO Jason Ingermanson has continued to invest in and rejuvenate his hometown club. The unveiling of M1918 is another step in Ingermanson’s journey.
"Our focus is to bring something very unique and fun to Salina," said Kish.
