MANHATTAN, Kan. – For the second straight season, K-State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie has been named as one of 15 candidates for the 2025 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Watch List presented by AXIA Time in an announcement on Wednesday.

Mittie is the second K-State women’s basketball head coach in the program’s 57 seasons of action to earn consideration for Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year honors, as Deb Patterson was a three-time finalist for the honor in 2002, 2003 and 2005.

K-State has achieved an overall record of 24-4 this season, which included a 14-game winning streak from November 27, 2024, to Jan. 25, 2025. Among its 24 victories are a pair of wins against Associated Press (AP) top-25 foes. This is Mittie’s fifth 20-win season at K-State, which is tied for third in program history for 20-win seasons as the Wildcat head coach.

Over the last two seasons, the Wildcats have registered 50 total wins. The 50 wins mark the seventh time in program history and the first time since the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons in which K-State has won 50 or more games in a two-season span.

Since making its poll debut on Nov. 20, 2023, K-State has been ranked for 35 consecutive weeks. This is the longest consecutive streak in the rankings for K-State since being ranked for 69 straight weeks from the end of the 2001-02 season to the end of the 2004-05 season.

Earlier this season, Mittie surpassed the 650-win mark in his 33 seasons as a head coach. Overall, his career record stands at 668-374 (.641). He also moved into second in program history for career wins, as his record in his 11 seasons at K-State stands at 214-139 (.606).

K-State enters the weekend as one of the top teams, statistically, in the nation. The Wildcats lead the nation in assists per game (21.9) and is in the top-15 for: three-point percentage (.396; 2nd), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.71; 3rd), field goal percentage (.494; 5th), scoring margin (+24.4; 5th), blocks per game (5.6; 8th), field goal percentage defense (.353; 9th), defensive rebounds per game (29.4; 11th) and scoring offense (80.4; 13th).
