MANHATTAN – In honor of her performance last weekend in K-State soccer’s fourth win in its last five matches, junior Marisa Weichel has been named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com National Team of the Week for Sept. 6.

This is the second straight week a K-State player has received a weekly national team honor, as junior defender Jesse Loren earned recognition from TopDrawerSoccer.com last week.

During K-State’s 4-0 win at Colorado State on Sunday, Weichel scored a pair of goals including her second game-winner of the season. Weichel was the third Wildcat ever to register two or more goals in a match and the first since Brookelynn Entz at Missouri on March 28, 2021. Weichel has scored a goal in all three weeks of the season.

The two goals improved Weichel’s team-leading goal total this season to a career-high four. Her goal total this season ranks tied for third for a single-season in program history.

With her two game-winning goals this season, Weichel became the second player in school history to score two game-winners in the same season, joining Hannah Davis in the 2017 season. Weichel is tied for second in school history for career game-winning goals.

K-State will conclude its five-match road trip on Thursday evening, as the Wildcats travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, to face Purdue. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. (CDT). Thursday’s match will be streamed online on Big Ten Network Plus.
