Fort Hays Athletics
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State track and field team placed 48 student-athletes on the 2021-22 MIAA Outdoor Academic Honor Roll, released Monday by the league office.
Thirteen of those individuals earned additional honors, including six MIAA Academic Excellence Award winners and seven Scholar-Athlete Award recipients.
From the women's squad, Carson Pierce, Madison Shapland, Chloe Stanley, Abigail Stewart and Hannah Wiebe all earned the Academic Excellence Award, while Addie Berens, Gretchen Kuffel and Mattie Rossi all picked up the Scholar-Athlete Award. Other Tigers listed on the Academic Honor Roll include Rhyann Brown, Hannah Burks, Hayley Burks, Jessie Castellucci, Kendra Clary, Ellie Dusselier, Laurel Haley, Alexandra Hart, Lyric Holman, Summer Kragel, Taylor Linn, Faith Little, Brooke Navarro, Mya Navarro, Tori Poe, Emily Salmans, Taylor Savolt, Maleigha Schmidt, Tabitha Stowers and Julia Wagner.
Mark Faber picked up the Academic Excellence Award from the men's squad, with Hayden Albright, Ethan Lang, Jack Pakkebier and Ryan Stanley all receiving Scholar-Athlete recognition. Additional team members on the Academic Honor Roll include Grant Bradley, Caleb Carrasco, Joshua Doria, David Enns, Sebastian Garcia, Jama Gleue, Carter Jones, Cason Liebst, Trever Medina, Kolgan Ohl, Jaret Pfizenmaier, Isaac Radke, Xavier Robinson, Robbie Schmidt and Kaden Wren.
An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. Transfers and true freshman are recognized at the conclusion of the school year, after they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
