Rhoda Mae Martin

Rhoda Mae Martin, 74, of Princeton, KS passed away Wednesday June 19, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born September 18, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Glenn Gilbert and Goldena (Cornwell) Gilbert.
Rhoda graduated from Washington High School, Kansas City, KS with the class of 1967. She then graduated from Kansas State University receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree.
In 1972 Rhoda became the Art Teacher for Central Heights High School. She worked there until 1978. From that time on she was a full time mother and wife while also having jobs for a short time at the Post Office, Elizabeth Layton Center and finally, she worked at Arvest Bank for a number of years, which allowed Fred to serve as a vocational Youth Pastor at Ottawa Bible Church.
Rhoda loved her family and loved spending time with them. She was a faithful member of Ottawa Bible Church and was very active in the church with volunteer efforts over the years. Rhoda and Fred were passionate about youth ministry and served together throughout their marriage, impacting the lives of many teens and young adults. She loved the Lord and was always taking opportunities to spread the Gospel.
On August 15, 1970 Rhoda was united in marriage to Fred R Martin in Kansas City, KS. They shared over fifty-three years of marriage. Fred survives of their home in Princeton.
She is also survived by her children, Reuben G. Martin, Kansas City, MO, Brooke L. Mills Ottawa, KS, Seth B. Martin and his wife, Rachel, Colorado Springs, CO, Caleb D. Martin and his wife, Jenny, Fayetteville, AR; two sisters, Connie Bilyeu and her husband, Roy, Overland Park, KS, Roxy O’Dea and her husband, Brad, Ottawa, KS; and five grandchildren, Glenna Mills, Levi Mills, Eden Martin, Finnegan Martin, and Asher Martin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Glynis D Gilbert.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday June 24, 2024 at Ottawa Bible Church, Ottawa, KS. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, KS. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the Ottawa Bible Church.
