Following the recent storm that swept through Salina, creating tree limb debris, the Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill wants to remind citizens of its services to assist residents in disposing of yard waste. The landfill operates a dedicated yard waste disposal site, allowing Saline County residents to drop off their yard waste free of charge, provided the load is properly secured.

Accepted materials at the yard waste disposal site include brush, limbs, logs, and stumps. However, residents are advised to anticipate longer-than-usual lines at the landfill due to the increased number of visitors bringing in storm debris. For those unable to secure their yard waste loads properly, a minimal tipping fee of $11.50 per vehicle will be charged.

In addition to landfill services, City of Salina Sanitation offers a special pickup service for citizens who cannot transport debris to the landfill. City of Salina Sanitation customers can schedule a special pickup starting at $27, while citizens without City of Salina Sanitation service can schedule a special pickup starting at $54.

For more information on accepted materials, operational hours, and guidelines for yard waste disposal, residents are encouraged to visit salina-ks.gov/landfill or contact (785) 826-7395.

For more information on special pickups contact General Services at (785) 309-5750.

The Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill and the City of Salina Sanitation provide essential waste disposal services to Saline County residents, ensuring environmentally responsible management of solid waste and supporting community cleanliness initiatives.
