The Southeast of Saline girl’s basketball team will head to Ellinwood for their final non-league game of the regular season.
SES enters this contest at 14-3 and on a six-game winning streak while Ellinwood comes in at 9-8 on the season.
The two met back in 2021 in what would be a 67-36 win for the Lady Trojans.
This year’s Ellinwood team isn’t far off the pace of last year’s 12-8 squad and is once again led by junior Brittany Simpson.
Simpson has been a handful for opposing defenses this season, averaging 22 points per game.
The Eagles have also gotten a boost from additional veteran starters in Mary Dimitt, Bella Baker and Gracie Schlessiger, who add another 20 points per game to the mix.
Offensively Ellinwood has averaged 50 points a contest but has been prone to off nights, scoring 35 or fewer on four occasions including a 15 point showing against Central Plains.
The Lady Trojans have just three games remaining before sub-state, with Ellinwood tonight, Ellsworth on Tuesday, and Republic County next week.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm with the boy’s game to follow at 7.
As always, both games can be heard on KINA (910 AM or 107.5 FM) or streamed live on the Salina Post.
