The Smoky View 4-H Club has been busy preparing for the upcoming Tri-Rivers Fair in Salina starting on August 9.On June 18, members of the club met to discuss donations, fair parade preparation, and projects to present at the fair.
Smoky View members considered themes for two Tri-Rivers Fair Silent Auction baskets. Some suggestions made included summer activities and movie night. Members will donate items for these baskets in the coming months.
The club also talked about putting together a float for the Tri-Rivers Fair parade. Families were selected to plan and lead the float.
Lastly, some 4-H members showed off their 4-H projects and presentations.
Brik Johnson presented his buymanship outfit, including what he would use the outfit for, how much the outfit costs, and what pieces of clothing made up the outfit.
Soren Johnson described how baseball is played. He spoke about the bases, runs, stealing, and many other rules and plays in baseball.
Ridge and Beau Johnson described a wooden bench and table that they constructed for the woodworking project. They discussed the finish used for the wood, the types of wood used (pine and cedar), and the tools they used to create their projects.
The club will meet again at 4 p.m. July 23 in the Salemsborg Fellowship Center.
