The Southeast of Saline baseball team began their season with a bang on Saturday, dismantling Wichita Collegiate in a 20-0 rout at the opening round of the South Central Shootout in Kingman.

All who were in attendance would call this display of power impressive, some might even call it perfect, and for opening day starter Trever Keller that’s exactly what it was.

Keller took the hill for the Trojans on a day where immense run support would only require him to face nine batters, but even by that standard the senior dazzled, retiring all nine in short order to record a perfect game.

All the more impressive, just one member of the Panther lineup managed to so much as put the ball in play, as Keller struck out an unheard of eight batters on 41 pitches, more than 70% of which were for strikes.

Meanwhile, in their at-bats, the Trojans struck for six runs in the first before truly roaring to life with a 14-run second, putting this one to bed early and without a doubt.

Eight different members of the Southeast lineup would record an RBI, with six driving in two or more, led by Grady Gebhardt (5), Landen Allen (4), and Greyson Pembleton (3).

In total 11 different Trojans would stride to the plate, with six recording a hit, and all 11 reaching base at least once.

This win would set SES up with an opportunity to win the South Central Shootout against Sedgwick, an opportunity they wasted no time jumping on with a 13-0 victory to move to 2-0 on the young season.
