Patricia Adele Wheaton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information (wigginsfuneralhomes.com)
July 29, 1940 - December 26, 2022
Patricia “Patty” Lusk Wheaton
Patty was born July 29, 1940 to Pat and Dale Roberts. She was raised along with her brother Neal in Lebo, KS, where she enjoyed the small-town community, cheerleading, and working in her father’s butcher shop.
It was there she met and fell in love with James “Jim” Lusk. Together they attended Emporia State University, and were married on June 18th, 1961. They settled into their lives together, welcoming three children into the world, Tamela, Linda, and Corwin “Cory.”
Together they raised their children in McPherson, KS, where Jim served as the vice president of claims for Farmers Alliance Insurance, and Patty served as executive secretary to the president of McPherson College for many years, until her retirement in 2000.
After the death of her husband in 2000, Patty began to travel to various sporting events and group vacations. It was there she met Garrett Wheaton, whom she married on August 3, 2003. They continued their adventures and supported their local sporting teams for many years from their McPherson, KS home. Garrett passed in 2018, at which time Patty relocated to Wichita to live in the company and care of her daughter, Linda.
Patty passed peacefully in her home on December 26, 2022.
She is survived by her children Linda Lusk-Koch, and Cory (Amy) Lusk, as well as grandchildren Lauren, Brant, Erin, Kelsey, Zach, Alex, and Mikhail. She also had five great-granddaughters, with whom she was able to celebrate Christmas before passing. She was preceded in death by her husbands Jim Lusk and Garrett Wheaton, as well as her daughter, Tamela Heckethorn.
Visitation with the family will take place at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on January 2nd, 2023. A private service will then take place for family.
