Carla Joy Christians, 85, died on December 23, 2021, at Riverview Estates, Marquette, KS. She was born on May 30, 1936, to Carl and Theresa Gray in Geneseo, KS.
Carla graduated from Geneseo High School and attended Wichita State University. She graduated from Bethany College in 1980.
She is predeceased by her father, mother, and infant sister. Her older sister, Twila Sullivan, passed away recently on October 20, 2021.
Carla married Warren Laughlin in 1956 and three children were born; Davis (Donna) Laughlin of Benton, KS; Daric (Karen) Laughlin of Overland Park, KS; and Darla (Mark) Brin of Salina, KS. Grandchildren include Amber (Leighton) Fetters, Tara Laughlin, Kyle (Melissa) Hubele, Morgan (David) King, Ross Laughlin, Drake Laughlin, and bonus grandchildren Blaque and Baylee Brin. Great-grandchildren include Averie, Meredith, and Caleb Fetters; Jaxon and Cooper Hubele; and Caroline and Madison King.
Carla married Albert Christians in 1983 and welcomed two bonus children: Dan (Diane) Christians, Overland Park, KS, and Roy (Joi) Christians, Colorado. Bonus grandchildren include Cody, Brittany, Conner, David, and Laura Christians.
Carla was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved giving gifts, especially at Christmas, and would, within reason, try to gift whatever the person wished for.
Carla worked as an English teacher and then was the registrar at Marymount College until it closed. Carla was a very talented pianist and accompanied many individuals and groups. She played the piano until later years when rheumatoid arthritis sadly crippled her hands. She was very energetic and loved sports. She followed the KU Jayhawks, KC Chiefs, and loved to watch Smoky Valley Basketball.
Funeral service will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lindsborg, KS on Wednesday, December 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
