It's shaping up to be a hot week in the area.
Near to above normal temperatures with a slight chance of a shower or storm in the afternoon and evening can be expected through Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita.
Temperatures are expected to rise toward the middle and especially the latter portion of the week. Heat indices may exceed 100 degrees on Wednesday afternoon and 105 degrees on Thursday through Saturday, NWS noted.
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible across the area on Thursday, but it is too early to determine the threat of severe weather at this time, NWS added.
