KWU competitive cheer team competes at Bethel Invitational

NORTH NEWTON – Kansas Wesleyan Competitive Cheer competed on Saturday at the Bethel Invitational in two different competitions at the event.

KWU placed eighth in the first competition with a score of 66.37 and was seventh in the second competition with a score of 65.13. A total of 11 teams competed in the first competition and 10 in the second.

Bethel also posted overall results from the Saturday competitions taking the top score from both for each team. KWU placed eighth overall in the overall results.

In the first competition, Saint Ambrose was the winner with a score of 90.77, followed by Oklahoma City with a score of 85.43. Hastings was third with 76.68, Bethel was fourth with a score of 75, Concordia (Neb.) was fifth with a score of 72.97, Saint Mary was sixth with a score of 70.38, Friends was seventh with a score of 69.03, KWU was eighth with a score of 66.37, Williams Baptist was ninth with a score of 63.18, McPherson was 10th with a score of 60.07 and Baker was 11th with a score of 56.23.

In the second competition, Saint Ambrose was again the winner with a score of 90.4, followed by Oklahoma City at 89.37, Concordia was third at 73.2, Bethel was fourth at 71.63, Saint Mary was fifth at 67.68, Friends was sixth at 66.47, KWU was seventh at 65.13, Williams Baptist was eighth at 64.37, McPherson was ninth at 63.21, and Baker was 10th at 57.97.

Overall Saint Ambrose led the way followed by Oklahoma City, Hastings, Bethel, Concordia, Saint Mary, Friends, Kansas Wesleyan, Williams Baptist, McPherson and Baker.

The Coyotes will next compete in the KCAC Championships on February 18 in North Newton at Bethel College.
