For the first time all season, the Southeast of Saline softball team suffered a series sweep, dropping a pair of close games with Beloit by final scores of 3-2 and 5-1.

Game one was a pitcher's duel from start to finish with both lineups failing to score more than a single run in any given inning, the low-scoring nature made all the more impressive by Beloit outhitting SES 12-2.

Despite the low offensive output Southeast would hold a one-run lead after three, but one-run innings in the top of the fourth and sixth allowed Beloit to tie and eventually take the lead in a 3-2 victory.

Game two saw more of the same, but this time it was SES that struggled to find the timely hits, driving in just one run on seven knocks in an eventual 5-1 loss.

With a pair of wins in a battle of undefeateds, Beloit takes control of the top spot in the NCAA at 6-0 while Southeast slides to second at 4-2.

SES is still a solid 9-5 overall but will look to get their mojo back in the coming weeks.

The Lady Trojans will have three more league doubleheaders with Minneapolis, Ellsworth, and Russell, before postseason play begins on May 12th.
