The Southeast of Saline Trojans finish their season with a 53-32 senior night victory over the Republic County Buffaloes.

With this win, SES ends their regular season 13-7 and 6-2 in league play while Republic County falls to 2-13.

The Trojans got out to a slow start but turned it up after that, taking a 19-4 lead into the end of the first quarter and never looking back.

“I thought they played pretty well,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “It’s difficult sometimes to get up for these games when the guys see the records and the stats but I thought at the end of the day we did what they needed to do.”

Southeast was led by a trio of double-digit scorers in Jaxson Gebhardt, Bryant Banks and Cam Spano-Lund.

The Buffaloes were led by Blake Aurand who managed 16 in the losing effort.

All of the Trojan seniors got in on the fun in this game with an all senior starting five, this is the first full group of seniors to graduate under head coach Bryson Flax.

“This is the first group for me that did a lot of work as sophomores and really paved the way for our success as a group,” he said. “They mean a ton to me and we’ve got a lot of kids on this team that look up to them.”

The Trojans will be back in action for the first round of sub state next week. Stay tuned to KSHAA for final brackets and right here to Salina Post for continuing coverage of both SES basketball teams.
