Suspect used rifle during Kansas bank robbery

BURR OAK —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a bank robbery and continue to search for a suspect.

Just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, a suspect described as a white male approximately 6-foot tall, medium build wearing all black, carrying a black rifle entered the Guaranty State Bank, 121 South Main, in Burr Oak, according to a media release from the sheriff's department.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash into rural Jewell County. He was driving a silver, flatbed believed to have been stolen from a Jewell County resident.

There was a multi-agency search for the suspect. He is believed to have fled the county.

Just before 5 p.m. the Jewell County Dispatch received a call about a pick up behind some cedar trees near 20 Road and Ash in northwest Jewell County. This was the vehicle deputies were trying to locate from the robbery.

The KBI is processing all evidence as the search for the suspect continues.

Agencies involved in the investigation include the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office, the KBI, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
