CONCORDIA - The North Central Kansas Medical Center, which is being built in Concordia, recently received a $5,000 gift toward the purchase of an MRI machine.

Darell Gallegos, owner of Farm Country Ford in Concordia, presented a $5,000 check to the Cloud County Foundation for Health Care. The donation was earmarked for the purchase of an MRI machine, a new permanent service that will be offered at the North Central Kansas Medical Center, according to information from Cloud County Health Center (CCHC).

Cloud County Health Center broke ground on the new hospital in March of 2021. The new facility will be located close to U.S. Highway 81 along College Drive. Cloud County Health Center will change its name to North Central Kansas Medical Center as it transitions to the new building, scheduled to open later this fall.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our support for the new hospital, in particular for the MRI project,” said Gallegos. “This is an investment in our community’s future and we are honored to be a part of it.”

This is not the first time Farm Country Ford has donated to the new hospital project. In August, they contributed $5 from every test drive of the all new Ford Bronco. This gift, along with many other gifts by the community, helped the foundation reach its goal of raising $436,000 for the MRI room, CCHC noted in a news release. The MRI machine is the second phase of fundraising for the MRI project. The total cost for the MRI machine is $1,056,000.

“Darell and his employees have been a constant source of support for the hospital,” said David Garnas, administrator of Cloud County Health Center. “Darell volunteers his time as a member of the Board of Trustees and Farm Country Ford has donated thousands of masks to the hospital. This recent gift is another way Farm Country Ford has showcased their steadfast support for the hospital and the new North Central Kansas Medical Center.”
