⚾️ Diaw Homers as Wind Surge Fall to Drillers, 8-2

TULSA, Okla. — The Wichita Wind Surge (26-33) fell 8-2 to the Tulsa Drillers (34-25) in game three of a six-game series Thursday night at ONEOK Field as Tulsa launched five home runs.

Khadim Diaw led the way offensively, collecting three hits and launching his third home run of the season. Brandon Winokur also recorded three hits for his 11th multi-hit performance of 2026, while Marek Houston and Caden Kendle each collected a pair of hits as Wichita recorded its 35th game with double-digit knocks this season.

On the mound, Cory Lewis turned in a solid start, allowing one earned run while striking out six over four innings. The Wind Surge pitching staff recorded its 58th game with double-digit strikeouts this season.

THE RUNDOWN

Tulsa opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, using a double and a fielding error to put a runner in scoring position before plating a run on a sacrifice fly.

The Wind Surge threatened in the top of the third, loading the bases on two singles and a walk, but an inning-ending double play kept them off the scoreboard.

The Drillers added another run in the bottom half, using a double, a walk and a single to extend their lead to 2-0.

Wichita got on the board in the top of the fifth when Diaw launched an opposite-field solo homer to right field, his third of the season. Tulsa responded with two home runs in the bottom half to take a 5-1 lead after five innings.

The Drillers added three more runs with big flies over the sixth and seventh innings to extend their advantage to 8-1.

Wichita pulled a run back in the top of the eighth, using three singles to plate a run, but could not overcome the deficit in the ninth, falling 8-2.
