Salina Regional Health Center is seeking the City Commission's approval to redevelop a zoning lot before constructing a brand new surgery center and medical clinic.
The reason the hospital will need approval is due to a redevelopment of a 2.38 acre city-owned zoning lot, consisting of multiple lots near the area of 320 S. 4th Street.
Residential dwellings that previously occupied the area have been demolished.
Salina Commissioners will need to approve at Monday's public meeting, the requested rezoning of lots 174, 176, 178, 186 and 188 before construction can start.
The plan is to rezone lots 174-178 (R-3, Multiple Family Residential) & 186, 188 (C-3, Shopping Center) to a unified C-4 (Central Business) zoning district.
This amendment facilitates the construction of a new three-story surgery center and medical clinic featuring a 32,856 square foot building footprint, according to the city.
The C-4 district includes a broad range of commercial and retail uses, such as medical clinics.

No significant fiscal impact to the City of Salina is anticipated as a direct result of this zoning map amendment, according to the city.
