Edith “Edie” Mae Davis, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Sunset Nursing Center, Concordia, Kansas. She was born at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, Kansas on October 17, 1948, to Lenford Fry Davis and Vera Mae (Hughes) Tieking.
She graduated from Concordia High School in 1966, where she had many friends. Edith was shy, ornery and spoiled rotten as a kid. She loved to dance in her younger years, and continued dancing as she got older, especially to Elvis Presley music.
Edie Mae was a “counselor,” some would say she loved to ask questions and find out every detail of others’ lives especially her families. She also didn’t know a stranger; she loved to greet people with a loud “Hello” and either a hug or a wave.
She found joy in the simple things: getting her daily pop, trying new blizzards at Dairy Queen, cooking her famous chicken, sending cards, following fads, spending all day watching Heartland and NCIS, having control over the radio in the car, caring for her dog Megan and cats, and most of all spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lenford Fry Davis and Vera Mae (Hughes) Tieking; Step-dad Theodore Noble Tieking; and sister Deanna Cibolski.
She is survived by her siblings, Lenna Novak (Kenneth) Randall, KS; Joan McClintock (Harry) Clay Center, KS; Theodore Norris Tieking (Connie) Concordia KS; Terance Tieking Wichita, KS; Trenton Tieking Concordia, KS; Brenda Garrison (Ron) Atchison, KS; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Edie’s boundless love will be missed more than words can express. Her legacy will live on in the family she treasured and the lives she touched.
