Mary Lucille “Luci” Collins, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020, at The Cedars, McPherson, KS.
Luci was born on April 17, 1924, in Walnut Grove, MO, the daughter of Arthur Claud and Ella Elizabeth (Adams) Hurd. She had two brothers, Luther and Glen, and two sisters, Allie and Gladys.
She was a Springfield, MO resident most of her life. On April 15, 1955, Luci was united in marriage to Joseph Collins.
Luci retired from Springfield City Utilities in 1972 and moved to McPherson, KS in 2006 to be near her nephew, Archie (Margaret) Smith and their extended families.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and in her earlier years, she enjoyed playing golf with the ladies group. She also loved spending time at the lake.
Survivors include: niece-in-law, Margaret Smith of McPherson, KS; nieces & nephews, Jim Hurd of Springfield, MO, Ben Hurd of Springfield, MO, Howell Henderson of Webb City, MO, and Jeanne Butcher of Springfield, MO; great-nieces & nephews, Glenda (Ken) Sims of McPherson, KS, Marla (Jeff) Jones of Pleasant Hill, MO, Kelly (Rad) Sykes of Blairsville, GA, Kristy (Brian) Pliler of Webb City, MO, and Nicholas (Kayla) Henderson of Webb City, MO; and numerous great-great-nieces & nephews and great-great-great-nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, nephew, Archie Smith, and niece, Mary Cantrell.
Luci lived a long, colorful life and will be dearly missed.
A private family graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery.
