ELLSWORTH COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 4:30p.m. Friday in Ellsworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Chevy Equinox driven by Stephanie Ruth Stevens, 54, Rio Vista, California, was southbound on Kansas 14 just north of Avenue Q. The SUV began to spin counterclockwise. The vehicle entered the northbound lane and struck 2022 Ford F350 driven by Mark Elmer Huseman, 47, Ellsworth head-on.
Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Parsons Funeral Home. Huseman was not wearing a seat belt and had only had a minor injury, according to the KHP.
According to KHP, Stevens lost control of the vehicle due to slick roads from Friday's wintry mix weather. It was reported there were heavy amounts of snow in the area.
