A woman was arrested after repeatedly calling 911 and setting an apartment on fire with individuals in the premises.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Monday at around 8:45 pm, officers were dispatched to 1800 S. Broadway in reference to Ericka Barber (35) calling 911 twice.
Reportedly, Barber refused to speak with officers when they attempted to contact her.
However, between 9:45 pm and 10:58 pm that same day, Barber called 911 approximately 67 times.
Barber was advised not to call 911 if there was no emergency.
But then at about 2:10 am on Tuesday, officers responded to Barber’s apartment due to a visible fire within the room.
Upon arrival Barber would not open the door for fire crews or officers. Subsequently, the door was breached and entry made.
According to SPD, Barber had taken items from the room and set them on fire on a windowsill burning the screen.
Throughout the scene, Barber would not comply with commands from law enforcement and resisted an attempted arrest. She was then taken into custody and after being cleared by medical personnel, Barber was transported to Saline County Jail.
There were 10 other individuals living in the complex when Barber set the fire, according to SPD.
Barber was booked in reference 10 requested charges of Aggravated Arson, Interference with Law Enforcement, and 67 requested charges of Transmit/Communicate false info to request emergency service.
