Richard Thomas “Dick” Bedard, age 79, of Wichita, Kansas passed away May 16, 2023 at Wesley on Woodlawn in Wichita. He was born January the 14, 1944 in Hays , Kansas to Levi and O’della (Newell) Bedard.
On December 30, 1965 he was united in marriage to Janelle Ann Lorbeer in St. Joseph’s Church in Hays.
Dick was a longtime employee of Midwest Energy where he worked for 40 years. After retiring from Midwest Energy, he began working for Lowes in Wichita along with his wife, Janelle.
Dick was an avid KU Jayhawk, Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan and he enjoyed doing yard work. Dick was a man of strong faith whose family was important to him.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena in Wichita and a Knights of Columbus Third Degree member.
Dick is survived by his wife, Janelle of Wichita; Son, Scott Bedard and wife Margaret of Wichita; daughter, Renee` Befort and husband Craig of Tulsa, OK; four sisters, Carol Bedard, of Leavenworth, KS, Michelle Beyer and husband Greg of Hays, Jeanette Howerton and husband Bob of Leavenworth, and Judy Koerner and husband Dave of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren, Bret Befort, Kelsey Urban, Kristina Hopkins, and Brooke Teraberry as well as three great-grandchildren, Carson Urban, James Hopkins, and Kai Teraberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fidelis “Dale” Bedard and Raymond Bedard.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. with a combined rosary and vigil service at 7 p.m. all at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
