
Jim Thomas, Jr. November 4, 1958 – April 30, 2026
Jim Thomas Jr., 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on April 30, 2026. He was born on November 4, 1958, in Salina, Kansas. After attending high school, Jim served in the United States Army for a little over two and a half years.
Jim was saved and knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He had a generous and compassionate heart, often helping others even when he wasn’t feeling his best. He was known for his positive influence on young people and spent some time coaching youth baseball. Jim possessed a rare and gentle gift with animals. This talent earned him the affectionate nickname 'the dog whisperer’, a skill most evident in the bond he shared with his beloved Rottweilers, Stank and Ona.
A self-taught musician, Jim learned to play the piano and bass guitar by watching YouTube videos and enjoyed making music with his friends. He also loved watching sports and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Debbie; his sons Michael, Jere and Darius Thomas; his brothers Jonnie (Sharlene), Virgil (Paula), and Marvin; his sisters Pecolia and Joyce; stepchildren Michelle Peterson and Michael Peterson (Heidi); 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Reed and Bettie Jean Thomas, and his brother, Raymond Earl Thomas.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and love will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends.
A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family.
