Salina Police arrest a male driver on multiple requested charges for committing a traffic violation, and are currently searching for the passenger after fleeing on foot.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Wednesday at around 8:30 pm, an officer observed a 1994 black BMW commit a traffic violation when leaving Pump Mart on North 9th.
The officer then followed the vehicle, and the driver reportedly performed another traffic violation. The vehicle then pulled over in the 1000 block of N. 10th, after a conducted traffic stop.
However, both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer then pursued the driver who was a male, and captured him in the same area.
The driver identified as 19-year old, Elijah Schmidt was arrested and booked into the Saline County Jail for the requested charges of:
Unsafe Turning or Stopping, Possession of Alcohol under the age of 21, No Proof of Insurance, Failing to Yield, Possession of Tobacco products under the age of 21 and Interference for Running.
SPD are currently searching for the passenger and have a possible identification.
