On Thursday, it was announced that the Wyoming Mustangs from Gillette, Wyoming would become the eighth team to join the CIF for the 2021 season.
With the addition of the Mustangs, the league is not only back to an even number, but will once again have teams representing five states.
“We’re thankful for the opportunity provided to us by the City of Gillette and the CIF to bring this exciting and fast paced game
to the state of Wyoming,” Mustangs managing partner Keith Russ said.
The opportunity to bring the Mustangs into the CIF has been in the works for quite some time according to CIF commissioner Ricky Bertz.
“We have been working with Keith and his staff for nearly two years on bringing a franchise to the Champions Indoor Football League,” he said. “They have spent a large amount of time and resources in ensuring that their business plan is one that is built on a foundation of success.
The Mustangs will kick things off on March 27th as the CIF enters its 7th season of play.
Campbell County Arena will play host to Wyoming Mustang home games throughout the season.
“For fans who have never seen a professional indoor football game,
they will be in for quite a show and will leave our games thoroughly entertained,” Russ said.
