The Salina Liberty will continue their run at the CIF crown tonight when the team hosts the Omaha Beef at 6:35pm.

The Liberty enter this game fresh off a 52-27 win over the Wichita Force while this marks the first game of the CIF season for the Beef.

Omaha finished the 2019 season at 8-5 with a playoff berth, and is a perennial contender in the league as one of the longest standing members of the CIF.

“They have a lot of talent and we have to be ready for them,” Liberty head coach Heron O’Neal said. “They have a great roster and great personnel as usual and they are a complete team in all areas.”

Salina looked dominant last week against Wichita, outscoring the Force 28-8 in the second half to begin their season 1-0.

“The best thing I saw from the guys last week was their ability to make adjustments and find a way to win in the second half,” O’Neal said.

While the Liberty excelled on both offense and defense, the special teams unit will have had some work to do this week after allowing Wichita to gain 102 of their 275 yards on kick returns.

Omaha is coached by a former NFL first-round draft pick in former New York Jet Marvin Jones, and should provide Salina with a challenge come game time.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:35pm at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center. The game can be heard on KINA (910 AM or 107.5 FM) courtesy of Eagle Radio.
