On August 5, 2024, at approximately 4:10 PM, a single-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Lightville Road and Schilling in Saline County.

Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander said this morning that on Monday a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by a 16-year-old male from Salina, veered off the road, subsequently overcorrected and crossed into a ditch. Melander said the vehicle rolled several times before eventually coming to rest upright alongside the road.

The vehicle had two passengers, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from the Brookville area. The passengers were uninjured in the accident. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Salina Regional Health Center by EMS for treatment of arm and other injuries.

Melander said the investigation is ongoing. Due to the driver's medical condition, paperwork has not yet been completed, but authorities indicated there may be a driving license violation related to age restrictions.
