CONCORDIA - For the second time this season, a school-record performance from Cloud County Community College women's track and field sophomore Lucy Ndungu has led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Ndungu picks up the award following her record-breaking time of 4:38.92 in the 1,500 meters this past weekend at the University of Kansas Rock Chalk Classic to break the previous record of 4:43.42 set by Tyshema Brown in 1995 to pick up her fourth school-record in her T-Bird career while sitting in third on the NJCAA performance list this season in the event. With the record, Ndungu now holds the CCCC track records in the 10,000 meters, 5,000 meters, 3,000 meters, and 1,500 meters while becoming the first Cloud County track athlete during the 2023 outdoor season to earn two KJCCC Athlete of the Week awards.
