CONCORDIA -- The Cloud County Community College baseball team has been picked fourth in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Preseason Poll released by the conference office on Tuesday.

The poll, which was conducted with a vote from each of the conference head coaches comes out a week prior to any of the nine KJCCC West Division schools set to take the field in their season opener as the NJCAA officially opened the season this past weekend.

This year's preseason favorite in the west division was Hutchinson followed by Barton and Colby to round out the top three with CCCC coming in just behind the Trojans. The T-Birds edged Butler in the poll who was picked to finish fifth followed by Garden City, Seward County, Dodge City, and Pratt in the nine-team division.

Over in the KJCCC East Division, perennial power Cowley was picked as the preseason favorite followed by Johnson County and Kansas City Kansas CC in the top three. Fort Scott was picked fourth, followed by Neosho, Coffeyville, Allen, Labette, and Highland.

In addition to taking on each of the other eight KJCCC West Division schools in conference action this year, Cloud County is scheduled to take on Cowley, Kansas City Kansas, Fort Scott, and Labette, and Coffeyville in non-conference games from the East. The T-Birds were able to get off to a 14-4 start a year ago which included winning 10 of their first 11 games of the season and were receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I Baseball Top-20 poll prior to the season getting shut down due to COVID.

CCCC is scheduled to open the year on Feb. 5 when the T-Birds will open up a three-game series at Fort Scott. Cloud County's first scheduled home game is set to take place on Feb. 27 with a doubleheader against Marshalltown CC.
