NWS issues freeze warnings for part of area Thursday

On Tuesday, the temperature hovered around 90 degrees. Wednesday morning, some in the area awoke to find snow falling. Thursday morning, part of the area will be under a freeze warning.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a freeze warning in effect from 1-9 a.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees are expected.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a freeze warning in effect from 1-9 a.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

Low temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees are forecast.

Sensitive vegetation will be killed by the hard freeze.
