A red flag warning has been issued for counties in our area.

A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, dry fuels, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Topeka.

NWS in Topeka has issued a red flag warning in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday for the following counties in our area.

Winds from the south-southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 35 mph are forecast. Humidity is expected to be 20 to 25 percent.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
