Salina police are investigating the theft of family heirlooms from a woman's front yard in broad daylight Wednesday.
Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, a maroon and tan Dodge pickup pulling a 10-to-12-foot flatbed trailer pulled up at a residence in the 1000 block of McAdams Road. A male jumped out of the pickup, ran into the yard, grabbed an iron bench and chair that were sitting in the yard, put them on the trailer, and left, Salina Police Detective Sergeant David Villenueva said this morning.
The suspect was described as having long hair and wearing tan shorts, he said.
While the chair and bench were valued at $200, they had much more sentimental value as they had belonged to the 62-year-old female victim's parents, Villanueva said.
A neighbor noticed the theft and followed the pickup, shooting photos along the way, before losing sight of the pickup near the intersection of Iron Avenue and Marymount Road, he said.
