Acensia "Cynthia" Martinez, 92, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 1:10 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2021 at McPherson Hospital.

Cynthia was born in Little River, Kansas on March 25, 1929 to Placida (Gomez) and Gregorio Martinez.

She attended Little River grade school and graduated from Little River High School, Little River, Kansas in 1947. She then attended Adele Hale Business School. She lived in Little River, Kansas until 1963 when she then moved to McPherson, Kansas.

In her early years, Cynthia worked as a baby sitter, at the local grocery store and produce company. She later worked for General Dynamic Astronautics and Farmers Alliance Insurance Company as a supervisor until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, where she was a member of the Altar Society, Legion of Mary, rosary leader and one of many which counted Sunday collections and was formerly a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Little River, Kansas where she was baptized in 1929.

Cynthia always loved an adventure and a challenge, whether it was a new sewing embroidery project, new plants for her garden or traveling to new places. She loved shopping, playing cards and trips to the casino. She would frequently be found playing golf at Alliance Acres. Most of all, she enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her brother John (Diane) Martinez of McPherson and sister Patrosinia (John) Oltmanns, of Wichita, Kansas; her nephews Jerry Oltmanns of Wichita, Kansas, Greg Oltmanns of Walnut Creek, California, David Martinez of McPherson, Kansas and Mark Martinez, of Timnath, Colorado; her nieces Monica Fix of Milford, Ohio and Julie Nelson of Scott City, Kansas; eight grandnieces and nephews and four great-grand nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Acensia was preceded in death by her parents Gregorio and Placida Martinez; and her sisters Sister Patricia Martinez OP and Antonia "Tonie" Martinez and a nephew.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. with rosary at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in McPherson with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Bean Cemetery, Little River, Kansas.
