Police are investigating an attempt to gain access to coin exchange machines at a central Salina convenience store car wash.
Sometime between Friday and Sunday morning, someone drilled out the door knob lock on the car wash office door at Casey's, 215 W. Crawford Street, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The break-in was reported by a maintenance employee who noticed the damage after reporting to work at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Damage to the door was estimated at $240. Additionally, a Makita electric drill, valued at $50 was missing. The thief was unable to enter the coin exchange machines, Forrester said.
