Police are investigating a Sunday evening robbery at a north Salina convenience store.
At approximately 6:50 p.m. Sunday, a man walked into the Pump Mart, 1118 North Ninth Street, and asked the clerk for some scratch-off lottery tickets, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The man then allegedly grabbed the clerk's shirt, held a knife against her chest, and demanded money from the cash register, Forrester said.
When the clerk opened the register, the suspect took money from it, and left with the money, some cigarettes, and some lottery tickets, he said. The suspect left in a four-door maroon car, Forrester added.
The clerk told police that the suspect was approximately 25 years of age and was a Hispanic male wearing a gray t-shirt, he said.
Police investigators are collecting video surveillance from the area and the incident remains under investigation, Forrester said.
