
Larry W. Jones, age 79, Clyde, Kansas, passed away at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, Kansas. He was born on January 6, 1946, in Beloit, Kansas to Marshall and Veda (Bowles) Jones.
He graduated from Concordia High School in 1964. Larry served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1964-1968. He was honorably discharged.
He married Nancy Rae Odette on February 13, 1971, in Clyde, Kansas. She preceded Larry in death on September 20, 2010.
Larry worked as a plant manager for Boettcher Enterprise of Beloit, Kansas for 25+ years at the Ames, Kansas location.
Larry was the “Voice of the Clifton-Clyde Eagles” for 38 years and was honored with the dedication of the press box in his name on Friday, September 26, 2025, at this year’s homecoming celebration. The press box will forever be known as the Larry Jones Press Box. He also was the voice of many Clyde Watermelon Festival parades and would finish out his day announcing the Clyde Demolition Derby. In 2021 the derby arena was named the Larry Jones Circle of Destruction. He also announced many slows pitch softball and baseball games at the Clyde Ball Field.
He was a member of the local V.F.W. Post #7515 of Clyde. Larry served as Quartermaster for V.F.W. Post #7515 and helped lead the V.F.W. Honor Guard Team where he would proudly present the folded American flag to the family of many fellow veterans.
He is survived by his son, Mark (Robyn) Jones, a granddaughter, Hayley Jones, his brother, Jerry (Donette) Jones, brother-in-law, Randy Odette, sister-in-law, Jeanette Jones, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jones, parents, Marshall and Veda, two brothers, Lawrence and Gerald Jones, father & mother-in-law, Ray & Mabel Odette, brother-in-law, Marc Sklenicka.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas with Pastor Michael Ostermann officiating. The V.F.W. Post #7515 and the United States Marine Corp. will conduct military honors. A “Celebration of Life” will be held immediately following the graveside service at V.F.W. Post #7515.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 pm all at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to V.F.W. Post #7515 or Park Villa Nursing Home in care of Chaput Mortuary, PO Box 291, Clyde, Kansas 66938.
