Tabetha Deines (SR/Salina, Kan.) claimed her fourth career KCAC Indoor Track and Field gold medal with a win in the 800m highlighting an outstanding meet for the Kansas Wesleyan Indoor Track teams at the KCAC Championships at Wichita State's Heskett Center.
The KWU women finished in sixth place, their second highest finish ever in the KCAC Indoor Championships, while the men's seventh place finish equaled the program's highest ever finish.
Deines edged out York's Maria Geesaman with a lean at the tape to finish with a time of 2:18.99, two-hundredths better than Geesaman, setting a new KCAC meet record and hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard in the event.
It's the second time Deines has won the KCAC 800m (2020), and she also has wins in the mile (2021) and was part of the 2019 Distance Medley Relay team that won the KCAC Championship.
In addition to Deines' win, KWU had two other All-KCAC performances.
Stephanie Martinez (SR/Horizon City, Texas) earned All-KCAC honors with a second place finish in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 18:32.58.
Kalil Murphy (FR/Hollywood, Fla.) finished second in the triple jump, earning All-KCAC honors with a lead of 14.12m, as he hit the NAIA 'B' Standard with the jump.
Wesleyan had several Honorable Mention All-KCAC performances.
In the mile, KWU got a pair of Honorable Mention All-KCAC performances by Deines who finished fourth with a time of 5:10.88 which was a NAIA 'B' Standard mark, and Stephanie Martinez was sixth with a time of 5:19.90.
Erik Kyser placed fourth in the long jump to earn honorable mention honors with a best mark of 6.60m.
Martinez also hit the NAIA 'B' standard in the 3000m, finishing fourth with a time of 10:33.47, earning Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors.
The women's 4x400m relay team finished fourth earning honorable mention honors for Tamayia Washington (FR/Manhattan, Kan.), Bailey Mann (FR/Ferris, Texas), Tiffany Pace (FR/Ferris, Texas) and Deines.
The men's 4x400m relay finished fourth as the team of Dixon, Davis, Conner LaRosa (FR/Herington, Kan.) and Ty Davidson (FR/Lakin, Kan.) finished fourth with a time of 3:31.39.
The women's distance medley relay finished fourth as Rhodes, Pace, Mouser and Goana earned honorable mention honors with a time of 13:37.64.
Eugene Dixon (SR/Plymouth, Minn.) and Nigel Davis (SR/Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up honorable mention all-conference honors in the 400m as Dixon was fifth in 51.03 and Davis was sixth in 51.64.
KWU's men's distance medley relay team was sixth, consisting of Rios, LaRosa, Ty Davidson and Hess, earning honorable mention honors with a time of 11:06.16.
The women's 4x800m relay team finished sixth, earning honorable mention honors for Daniella Gaona (SO/Clifton, Texas), Kylie Mouser (FR/Wichita, Kan.), Alayna Behrman (FR/Craig, Colo.) and Regan Rhodes (JR/Mullinville, Kan.) with a time of 10:35.17.
The men's 4x800m relay finished seventh as the team of Gavin Tucker (FR/Wichita, Kan.), Jack Horacek (FR/Topeka. Kan.), Giovanni rios and Ty Davidson finished in 8:35.47 to earn honorable mention honors.
In the 5000m, Austin Hess (SO/Garden City, Kan.) earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors with an eighth place finish with a time of 16:12.08.
Several others had strong performances for the Coyotes
Kylie Mouser finished ninth in the 600m with a time of 1:50.51.
Danielle Gaona finished ninth in the 1000m with a time of 3:26.60.
Preston Rottinghaus (FR/Wichita, Kan.) finished ninth in the high jump with a best mark of 1.86m.
Nicole Holaday (JR/Gove, Kan.) finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 10.94m.
Giovanni Rios (FR/Temecula, Calif.) was 10th in 2:43.84 and Shane Calvin (SO/Lakin, Kan.) was 13th in 2:47.33 in the 1000m.
Marisela Hernandez-Castro (SR/Yuba City, Calif.) finished 11th in the weight throw with a toss of 13.16m.
Bailey Mann finished 11th in the 400m with a time of 63.23, while Tamayia Washington was 13th with a time of 63.67.
Kalil Murphy was 11th in the long jump with a jump of 6.12m.
In the 800m, Regan Rhodes finished 12th with a time of 2:40.22 and Alayna Behrman finished 13th with a time of 2:44.33.
Ty Davidson finished 12th with a time of 1:29.09 and Darius Archuleta (FR/Liberal, Kan.) finished 18th with a time of 1:32.08 in the 600m.
Tiffany Pace was 13th in the preliminaries of the 60m with a time of 8.23. She also finished 27th in the preliminaries of the 200m with a time of 28.07.
Austin Hess finished 13th with a time of 9:27.88, Cisco Alvarez (FR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 25th in 10:02.40 and Stevie Merrill was 27th in 10:07.20 in the 3000m.
Merrill finished 13th in 16:59.01 and Alvarez was 16th in 17:32.24 in the 5000m.
Jack Horacek finished 14th in the mile with a time of 4:47.03.
Hunter Pane finished 16th in the shot put with a best throw of 11.47m and was 14th in the weight throw with a mark of 12.99m.
Conner LaRosa finished 18th in the 400m with a time of 54.47.
Eugene Dixon was 18th in the 200m preliminaries with a time of 23.22 seconds.
Nigel Davis was 19th in the 60m preliminaries with a time of 7.11 seconds.
Gavin Tucker was 19th in the 800m with a time of 2:09.61.
