June 23, 1926 - December 2, 2022

Verna Dyck, 96, of Canton, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at Hillsboro Hospital. She was born June 23, 1926 in rural Canton, the daughter of Frank E. and Leah (Koehn) Koehn.

She was united in marriage to Irvin H. Dyck on November 4, 1945 at Lone Tree Mennonite Church in Galva. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2002.

Verna was a homemaker. For more than 50 years, she worked alongside her husband in their watch shop in California. During this time, Verna spent many hours in the women’s ministry with Assembly of God Church in Merced, California. She was a member of the Spring Valley Mennonite Church in rural Canton, Kansas.

Her warm hospitality attracted many visitors to their home. Her love of sewing was demonstrated in the many quilts she tied with Piecemaker Quilt Group, while living in Oregon.

Verna is survived by her two sons, Melvin (Barbara Allan) Dyck of Milwaukie, OR, and Norman Dean Dyck of Canton; and sisters Viola D. Ratzloff of Canton, Rosalie A. Hiebert of Iroquois, SD, Sylvia J. (Warren) Eicher of Carson City, MI, and Lanita I. (Dennis) Unruh of Canton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Jim Koehn and Wilbert Koehn; and sister Darlene Unruh.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2022 at Spring Valley Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, December 11, at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family present from 4 to 5 p.m.
