Bernice Elaine Nunemaker
February 26, 1939 ~ January 5, 2024
Bernice Elaine Nunemaker, 84, of Minneapolis, Kansas, passed away on January 5, 2024. Bernice was born in Minneapolis on February 26, 1939, to William and Blanche (Morris) Geissert.
Bernice and husband Clarence vowed their lives to one another on April 6, 1956. More than 67 years later, they were still best friends and constant companions. She was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother and leaves a hole that cannot be filled in her immediate and extended family. Throughout her life, Bernice spent countless hours gardening and caring for her flower beds. When that was no longer possible, she enjoyed watching the birds (especially hummingbirds) at their feeders and working jigsaw puzzles.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold, Lester, Robert, John, and Glenn; sisters Margaret Geissert, Dorothy Dabbs, Eunice Rhodenbaugh, and Doris Thornton; son-in-law, Steve Gawith; and grandsons, Greg Nunemaker and Derek Percival.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Minneapolis; children, Beverly (Steve) Dimitri, Doug (Patty) Nunemaker, Jeff (Tannie) Nunemaker, Susan Gawith, and Brenda (Mark) Lamer; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 P.M., on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Scout Hall in Markley Grove Park, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to Love In Action and may be mailed to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
