High-Speed Pursuit in Salina, Results in Arrest of Local Man

Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Salina man on drug allegations after a traffic stop lead to a police chase on Friday night. 

Salina Police Captain James Feldman told Salina Post this morning, on Friday night at approximately 11:30 p.m. an officer was conducting routine patrols in the 200 block of W. Hamilton  Avenue when he observed a vehicle with expired registration. 

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, a 2017 Audi A-3, but was unsuccessful. A six-minute police chase followed. The chase ended after the fleeing vehicle struck a curb in the 700 Block of S. Front Street, subsequently deploying its airbags.

The driver, identified as Dalton Larry Jones, 20, Salina, exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. Jones was quickly apprehended by law enforcement officers.

During a search of Jones' car, officers discovered both cocaine and marijuana. 

According to Feldman, Jones was arrested on the following requested charges:

●Flee and elude

●Felony interference with a law enforcement officer

●Possession of an opiate with intent to distribute

●Possession of marijuana possession

●Drug paraphernalia

●No Kansas tax stamp

●15 traffic violations
