CONCORDIA -- For the first time this season and the first time in her career, Cloud County Community College volleyball sophomore setter Jaycee Burghart has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Setter of the Week.
Burghart would play a key role this past week in helping Cloud County go 2-0 with wins over Hesston and Allen by dishing out 62 assists and averaging 8.86 assists per set. The McPherson native would also add a season-best 17 digs in Thursday's four-set win over the Red Devils and has accounted for 74 percent of the T-Birds assists this year.
The award marks the first time this season that a Cloud County volleyball player has earned Player of the Week honors and the fourth-time in the past two seasons that a CCCC player has earned Player of the Week accolades. Burghart joins Dayana Chara who was named KJCCC Division II Player of the Week last season as well as sophomore Riley Bontrager who earned KJCCC Division II Setter of the Week on two separate occasions last year.
