Lynn Bash, formerly Veralynn Shaw passed away peacefully in her home Monday, March 18, 2024 in Kodiak, Alaska.

Lynn was born August 14, 1946 to Lester and Beatrice Hart in Versailles, Mo. She was later adopted by Fred and Carol Shaw of Falun, KS. Lynn attended Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg, KS as well as Marymount College in Salina, KS.

She worked briefly for the Pinkerton detective agency in Miami, Fl and as a paralegal in Salina, KS before embarking on her journey with the US Postal Service. Over the course of a 35 year career, Lynn went from secretary to counter Manager eventually retiring as Postmaster of Kodiak Island, AK.

Lynn was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Bash, her biological parents Lester and Beatrice Hart, adoptive parents Fred and Carol Shaw, nephew Jim Clausen of TX, niece Colleen Clausen of KS.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Van Wie of Salina, Kristin Crist (Ryan) of Abilene, grandchildren Michael Choy and Kailin Choy of AK, Katharin Choy of TX and her sister Grace Clausen of Salina as well as many nieces.  Donations can be sent to Kodiak Animal Shelter, Kodiak, AK or Hospice of Kodiak, AK.
